- A new study published in JAMA Open Network found that the quality between telehealth visits and in-person visits for primary care is comparable. The study examined 16 Health Care Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) measures across five domains of primary care: cardiovascular, diabetes, prevention and wellness, behavioral health, and pulmonary. Exposure to telemedicine was associated with similar or significantly better quality performance in 13 of the 16 measures. “This supports telemedicine’s value potential for augmenting care capacity, especially in chronic disease management and preventive care,” the authors concluded.
