- Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) Director Liz Fowler said the agency is looking to implement more mandatory value-based care payment models, including those focused on total costs. However, CMMI is moving away from having models for every disease, clinical visit, or specialty group in an effort to ensure the models are “harmonized and working together.” The agency also wants to improve coordination with Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
