- Two Axios articles examine how escalating health care costs could crush individuals and employers in the next year, and instigate Congress to finally take action to address underlying costs that make care increasingly unaffordable for everyday Americans. A recent McKinsey analysis predicts that that rising labor and supply costs could cause a $370 billion increase in U.S. health expenses by 2027. While providers will initially bear the costs, insurers will attempt to pass their increased costs to employers, who will then have to decide whether to pass along costs to workers.
