  • In a new Health Affairs blog post, CMS leadership outlined the agency’s agenda to expand coverage and access, improve equity, and encourage innovation. According to CMS Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure and Center for Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Services Director Daniel Tsai, the agency will: work with states to establish a uniform minimum access standard for Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries; develop a clear set of principles for 1115 waivers that advance health equity and financial stewardship, promote value-based care, and improve access to mental health and substance use disorder treatment; and work with states to prepare them to implement eligibility redeterminiations whenever the public health emergency is lifted.
