- Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said the chamber will soon vote to codify abortion rights into federal law even though he hasn’t secured enough votes to pass the measure. The Women’s Health Protection Act passed the House but has faced opposition from two Democrat Senators –Joe Manchin and Bob Casey. Meanwhile, Senators Patty Murray and Ron Wyden have called to open an investigation into complaints that health insurers deny coverage requests for birth control, leaving patients to pay out of pocket.
