- A new Kaiser Family Foundation brief explores the impact of climate change on health, examining how climate-related health threats could increase going forward and the effects of climate change on health equity. The brief notes that climate change is “poised to disproportionately affect people of color, low-income communities, immigrants, and other high-need groups” because they “have historically been exposed to climate hazards due to government policies and discriminatory practices that leave them more vulnerable to adverse climate events.” It also provides an overview of recent federal efforts to address climate change, including President Biden’s Executive order on tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) proposed a rule to protect workers from extreme heat exposure in indoor and outdoor settings.
