- President Biden projected optimism about the direction of the COVID-19 pandemic and launched new efforts focused on mental health care and nursing home quality during his State of the Union address. Biden announced a new “test to treat” program, “so people can get tested at a pharmacy, and if they’re positive, receive antiviral pills on the spot at no cost.” He also outlined a new strategy to address the nation’s mental health crisis, including more funding to build up the mental health workforce and new ways of connecting people with the care they need.
