- A new Gallup poll indicates that Americans aged 50-64 to have been skipping medications and cutting back on daily essentials to cover their medical needs. Eighteen percent, or approximately 11 million of older Americans, said they or a family member skipped a pill, prescribed dose, or other types of medication in the past year to save money. Another 26 percent said they or a member of their household skipped treatment for a health problem in the past three months due to cost concerns. Forty-two percent said that they are worried about their ability to pay future medical bills. (Poll here)
