- The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) released a new report showing that undiagnosed and untreated major depression disproportionately affects Black and Hispanic communities. According to the study, the overall treatment of major depression declined in Hispanic communities at a higher rate than in Black and white communities from 2018 to 2020. Prescription treatment was 33 percent lower in Hispanic and 13 percent lower in Black communities compared to white. Rates of counseling were 21 percent lower for Hispanic communities than for white and Black communities. (Report here)
