  • The American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Hospital Association (AHA) filed independent legal motions that implore the federal government to halt the rollout of the No Surprises Act’s billing dispute provision. The organizations state that “the departments’ interpretation of the [No Surprises] Act is contrary to its text, design, history and intent, and is therefore owed no deference.” They also argue that regulators put too much power in the hands of insurers by over-emphasizing the qualifying payment amount to determine a fair price. Regulators have until Friday to respond to the pair of motions. (Press release here)
