- Teen girls are experiencing record-high levels of sadness and violence, according to a new report published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Results from the 2021 Youth Risk Behavior Survey show startling trends, with nearly 3 in 5 teen girls (57 percent) saying they felt “persistently sad or hopeless.” That’s the highest rate in a decade. And 30 percent said they have seriously considered dying by suicide — a percentage that’s risen by nearly 60 percent over the past 10 years. The findings also revealed sexual violence among teen girls has increased 20 percent between 2017 through 2021. (Articles here, here, here, here, and here)
