- The FDA granted Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine full approval for use in people aged 18 and older. The vaccine, named Spikevax, is the second COVID-19 vaccine to receive full approval from the FDA, behind Pfizer’s Comirnaty vaccine. There’s no difference between the newly approved vaccine and the vaccine previously available through emergency use authorization. Novavax Inc. also asked the agency to authorize its protein-based COVID-19 vaccine for adults, after production delays set back its timeline by months.
