- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a proposed rule to increase access to health care services and make it easier to enroll in coverage. The rule would specifically require health insurers participating on the exchanges to comply with state and federal network adequacy standards. In addition, the agency would require insurers to promote their coverage of substance use disorder (SUD) and mental treatments by organizing providers into separate categories and instructing insurers to include at least 35 percent of the providers in any given market in their networks. The agency would also limit the number of non-standardized plans carriers can offer for every network type at each metal level to two. (Press release here)
