- Recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed that almost 25 percent of all adults received mental health care treatment – taking prescription medication, receiving counseling or therapy from a mental health professional, or both – last year. Women were more likely to have received mental health treatment than men, but the amount who received treatment increased for both. Approximately 30 percent of Non-Hispanic white adults reported receiving treatment in 2021 – more than double the percent of non-Hispanic Black adults (14.8 percent), Hispanic adults (12.8 percent), and non-Hispanic Asian adults (10.8 percent).
