- Results from The Commonwealth Fund’s biennial Health Insurance Survey show that even though a record number of Americans have health insurance, 43 percent of working-age adults were inadequately insured in 2022. In the survey, based on responses from more than 6,000 people between March and July 2022, 49 percent of the respondents said they would be unable to pay an unexpected $1,000 medical bill within 30 days. Forty-six percent said they had skipped or delayed care because of the cost, and 42 percent said they had problems paying medical bills or were paying off medical debt. (Report here)
