- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized two COVID-19 vaccines that were redesigned to target Omicron. This is the first time the FDA has granted updated COVID-19 vaccines emergency use authorization. Pfizer’s updated vaccine is authorized for people age 12 and older while Moderna’s is for people age 18 and older.
