  • Kaufman Hall’s latest quarterly report shows that a high percentage of “mega mergers” have offset fewer hospital mergers and acquisitions so far in 2021. Thus far in 2021, 34 transactions have been announced compared to 62 during the same period in 2020. Yet, the transacted amount for 2021 is currently at $22.4 billion, roughly the same as the $24.3 billion transacted during the same period in 2020. The firm expects the trend to continue due to three driving factors: Fewer independent hospitals, an emphasis on strategic partnerships, and desire for transformative impact. (Report here)
