- The end of the COVID-19 pandemic could create major disruptions for the U.S. health care system as temporary emergency measures come to an end. The public health emergency (PHE) allowed the health care system to become more generous, flexible, and technologically up to date. As the policies wind down, an estimated 15 million Medicaid recipients will be forced to find new sources of coverage and Congress will have to act to preserve broad telehealth access for Medicare enrollees. The current PHE will expire on April 16, though the Biden administration is expected to extend it through mid-July. (Article here)
