- A Physicians Foundation survey of over 1,500 doctors revealed that most say they lack the time and ability to address social determinants of health (SDOH) for their patients. Sixty percent said they don’t have adequate resources to effectively address SDOH and over 75 percent said that there are either not enough community resources or information on how to access them. The top challenges most reported included limited time during patient visits, an insufficient workforce to connect patients to community resources, insurance compliance, and lack of reimbursement for addressing SDOH.
