- A new study of fatal overdoses found that relaxing access to methadone did not lead to more deaths. In March 2020, the federal government told methadone clinics they could allow stable patients with opioid addiction to take their medicine at home unsupervised. According to the study, the share of overdose deaths involving methadone declined from 4.5 percent in January 2019 to 3.2 percent in August 2021. (Article here)
