- AbbVie Inc.’s Allergan unit will pay up to $200 million to New York state and two counties to settle claims that it allowed opioid painkillers to overwhelm the region. State Attorney General Letitia James said that the funding will go toward opioid treatment, education, and prevention programs. Several other companies have settled with New York over their roles in the opioid crisis, with Anda Inc. and other subsidiaries of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. left as defendants in the lawsuit.
