- A top goal for Congress and the Biden administration is responding to the mental health crisis among youth. President Biden’s plan calls for more money for school-based services, along with new social media safeguards for kids, and the Finance Committee is also considering increased spending on in-school mental health services. According to the National Academy for State Health Policy, as of March, at least 22 states had enacted laws that support children’s mental health and more than two-thirds of states have collectively enacted nearly 100 laws that support schools in providing behavioral health care.
