  • A recent poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research indicates growing American support for unrestricted abortion access, with 61 percent of respondents in a June survey believing their state should allow legal abortions for any reason a person chooses not to be pregnant. This marks a significant increase from 49 percent in a similar survey conducted a year prior, just before the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision. Support for abortion rights in general has also risen across political affiliations and genders since 2021, with Republicans showing an 11-point increase to 38 percent, Democrats up 14 points to 83 percent, and independents rising 11 points to 57 percent. Overall, 70 percent now believe abortion should be legal in most or all cases, up from 64 percent in the previous year. (Article here)
