- According to the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) fourth quarter Designated Health Professionals Shortage Area (HPSA) report data, only 27.7 percent of mental health professionals needed are available. The report also found that six states – Alaska, Washington, Nebraska, Missouri, New Jersey, and Delaware – have fewer than 30 percent of needed physicians available, with Delaware only having 16.4 percent of primary care physicians needed. Rhode Island and New Hampshire had the greatest share of need met at 72.1 and 71.2 percent, respectively. (Report here)
