  • A new Commonwealth Fund study shows that seniors who select Medicare Advantage (MA) over traditional Medicare plans this enrollment season will do so because of the perks. Overall, enrollment in MA plans is projected to rise to more than 50 percent by 2025. Approximately 25 percent who chose an MA plan said the main reason was additional benefits like vision and dental care that aren’t covered by traditional Medicare, while 20 percent cited a limit on out-of-pocket spending. Conversely, 40 percent of people who chose traditional Medicare said it was because they wanted to keep more doctor, hospital, and provider choice. (Issue brief here)
