- A federal appeals court on Saturday temporarily blocked the Biden administration’s vaccine mandate for private businesses with 100 or more employees, health care workers, and federal contractors. The court gave the federal government until 5:00pm today to respond. White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain said he’s confident the courts will uphold the rule before January 4, when it is due to take effect. During an interview with ABC’s “This Week,” Surgeon General Vivek Murthy said that the rule is an “appropriate and necessary” step to combat the pandemic and that the administration is ready to defend it after a federal court temporarily blocked the requirement.
