- The House late Friday cleared a Senate-passed bipartisan infrastructure bill by a vote of 228-206. All but six Democrats voting for the measure, along with 13 Republicans. The bipartisan bill would reauthorize surface transportation and water programs for five years, adding $550 billion in new spending: $110 billion for roads, bridges, and major projects; $39 billion for transit and $66 billion for rail; $65 billion for broadband; $65 billion for the electric grid; $55 billion to upgrade water infrastructure; and $25 billion for airports. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she will bring the $1.75 trillion social spending bill to the floor for a vote before Thanksgiving, after Congress’ budget office can analyze the bill.
