Topher Rasmussen
Communications Manager
Topher Rasmussen, MSW, is a passionate interdisciplinarian, social worker, and communications professional with a rich background in the arts, early childhood education, and mental health. As communications manager at Third Horizon Strategies (THS), he supports public and client-facing communications across all business lines to deliver impactful content that advances the firm’s mission of maximizing human potential.
A self-taught media producer with a foundation in theatre, Topher has led video production projects, served as an Associate Producer on two podcasts for THS (The Cost of Care, the HC3 Podcast), honed skills in graphic design, and developed engaging content for diverse audiences.
His clinical experience includes internships at Volunteers of America, Utah’s Cornerstone Counseling Center, where he worked as a Clinical Case Manager in a Community Behavioral Health/SUD setting, and the Center on Mindfulness and Integrative Health Intervention Development at the University of Utah (C-MIIND), where he served as a Clinical Specialist Intern on several NIH-funded studies focused on an 8-week mindfulness-based intervention for Opioid Use Disorder and Chronic Pain (Mindfulness-Oriented Recovery Enhancement, or MORE).
During his MSW program, Topher designed and co-taught a 15-week independent study course on Psychodynamic Social Work Practice, an initiative for which he received the Sharon Goodwill Memorial Award for Achievement and Promise in Mental Health.
From 2017-2019, Topher served as Lead Teacher at YWCA Utah’s Drop-In Daycare, providing trauma-informed childcare 40 hours a week to children aged six months to six years in a domestic violence shelter, demonstrating his commitment to supporting vulnerable populations.
Topher earned his Master of Social Work from the University of Utah and a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Studies – Theatre Arts & Psychology from Utah Valley University.
A few fun facts about Topher…
During his 12 year tenure at Salt Lake Acting Company, Topher performed in five mainstage productions, contributed to the development of three new plays through the Playwright’s Lab and dozens more through staged readings, secured emergency funding to keep the theatre afloat during the 18-month pandemic shutdown, and helmed the fundraising and execution of the Title I Arts Education Program, bringing professional musical theatre experiences to thousands of underserved K-2 schoolchildren through free field trips.
