- A new report from the FDA and CDC found that teen vaping plummeted this year as the COVID-19 pandemic forced many U.S. students to learn from home. In the national survey, 11 percent of high school students and less than 3 percent of middle school students said they were recent users of e-cigarettes and other vaping products. The rates represent nearly a 40 percent decline compared to last year, when nearly 20 percent of high school students and 5 percent of middle schoolers said they’d recently vaped. - The House Intelligence Committee voted to establish new authorities to detect global disease threats and shore up pandemic preparedness. The committee included the measures in the bipartisan intelligence authorization bill, which will likely become law, after a mostly classified committee report examined how the U.S. intelligence community handled the COVID-19 pandemic.
