- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced it will provide nearly $1.5 billion to states and territories to help address the opioid epidemic. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) will administer the funding, designed to support increasing access to medications for opioid use disorder (OUD), prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery support services for OUD and other substance use disorders. States and territories will also be asked to develop naloxone distribution plans to increase access. (Press release here)
