- More than half of physicians report feeling burned out and nearly a quarter say they’re depressed. According to Medscape’s U.S. Physician Burnout & Depression Report, the numbers reflect a big jump from just five years ago, when 42 percent of physicians say they felt burned out and 15 percent said they were depressed. Emergency medicine continues to be the medical specialty with the most burned-out doctors, per the survey, followed by internal medicine and pediatrics. Doctors said that higher compensation and more manageable work schedules would help them cope with burnout. (Article here)
