- The Supreme Court blocked the Biden administration’s eviction moratorium, which was extended at the beginning of August to provide continued relief during the COVID-19 pandemic. The CDC has repeatedly renewed the moratorium as state and local governments struggle to disburse some $47 billion of rental assistance provided by Congress. As of July 31, just $4.7 billion of the rental assistance had reached landlords and tenants. The Supreme Court decided said extending the moratorium would require new legislation.
