- A trio of health care professional organizations published a joint policy statement yesterday calling for more support for emergency departments to meet children and adolescents’ rising behavioral health needs. The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), and the Emergency Nurses Association issued the statement. It highlights the increasing role that EDs have played as a critical access point and safety net for youth. The organizations also provided a list of evidence-based policy and practice recommendations to improve care for these patients before, during, and after a behavioral health emergency. (Article here)
