- Idaho’s governor signed a law this week making it illegal for an adult to transport a minor to get an abortion without parental consent, making Idaho the first state to limit interstate travel for abortion. Governor Brad Little signed legislation creating a new crime called “abortion trafficking,” which was defined in Idaho’s House Bill 242 as an adult helping a minor obtain an abortion or abortions pills without the consent of a parent or guardian by “recruiting, harboring, or transporting the pregnant minor within this state.” Because the bill makes “abortion trafficking” a felony, individuals who break the law could face two to five years in prison.
