- The Health Equity Project, in conjunction with Third Horizon Strategies (THS), Pareto Intelligence, and Algorex Health, released a new issue brief exploring the impacts of social isolation and loneliness on health outcomes. Based on a literature review of 24 studies, analysts identified a number of key findings, such as loneliness is correlated with increased health risks such as chronic conditions, premature death, and other behavioral health conditions; isolation may result in increased health care services utilization; and screening in primary care remains a barrier to better identifying and supporting those struggling with social isolation and/or loneliness. The brief also outlines several ways states and health care delivery systems can support those who are negatively impacted by social isolation. (Brief here)
