- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an emergency use authorization for the first COVID-19 breath test. The device, called InspectIR COVID-19 Breathalyzer, works by separating and identifying chemical mixtures to detect five compounds associated with the virus. The device is about the size of a piece of carry-on luggage, produces results in three minutes, and can be used in medical offices and mobile testing sites. (Articles here, here, here, and here)
