Third Horizon Strategies’ (THS) vision for a healthier future has always been strengthened by the conscious decision to promote and support the health and well-being of local communities. Since THS’ inception, the firm has proudly supported CommunityHealth, one of the largest volunteer-based health centers in the nation. CommunityHealth provides primary and specialty care, medications, lab testing, mental health services, and health education at no charge to Chicago’s low-income, uninsured, and underinsured adults.

THS has been especially active in CommunityHealth’s All In™ Series, which convenes stakeholders from across Chicago to address the question, how can we work together to become the first major metropolitan city to have a fully functioning system in place, ensuring that every Chicago resident has access to the right health care, at the right time, in the right place? THS has been an enthusiastic leader and advocate for the series. THS Founder and CEO David Smith served on their 2022 All In Executive Leadership Council, THS’ leadership participates and volunteers on different campaign planning and fundraising committees, and THS co-produces events and content through the Health Care Council of Chicago (HC3) all in support of advancing the series’ goals.

[THS] has helped us convene stakeholders to bring visibility and attention to our work at CommunityHealth. They have helped us connect to new people to help further our message and have also inspired us with their commitment to making sure people have the access to the health care they need, and that health care is what it should be in Chicago.

Laura Starr

Director, External Affairs, CommunityHealth

THS employees have also personally stepped up to support the mission of CommunityHealth. David Smith and his daughter collected donations and supplies to support Venezuelan migrant patients over the 2022 holiday season. THS Vice President of Community Impact Meghan Phillipp has actively participated in the association board since 2018, receiving gratitude and recognition from CommunityHealth for her leadership as their 2020 Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year.

The partnership between CommunityHealth and the work we do through HC3 and THS is going to be incredibly important moving forward to help push the narrative of how we increase access to care, especially as the public health emergency unwinds.

Stephanie Willding

CEO, CommunityHealth

Over the past five years, THS’ philanthropic contributions to CommunityHealth have provided comprehensive, high-quality health care services to over 30 patients.  The firm’s financial contributions are matched with its belief that we must work with and for our communities.  “It has meant a lot to be included as a ‘non-traditional’ partner,” said Starr.  At THS, we couldn’t be prouder of our investment and partnership with this innovative and forward-thinking organization, making a difference in our local communities.
